Hello everyone. @EllieMay and I were discussing the differences between Pickles and Crushers plastroms.
One is more uniform from front to back and the other has a more blunt surface at the front as does Opo.
Why is there a difference?

Plastron & Carapace.. I believe it’s the Carapace that varies in shape. One has a higher, rounder dome shape... and the other is more oblong with a gentle curve.
We were looking for more Information on different types or origins of the Sulcatas..

What species, size and age are we talking about?

For sulcatas, there are only two types that I know of. "Regular" types, which I believe mostly came out of Mali, and the "Sudan" types. As babies, I can't see any difference between the two. As adults, the Sudan males have a much higher and rounder dome, and they get twice the size of the more slope backed Mali tortoises.

20181124_122028.jpg @Tom would you consider Opo a slope back? How much bigger do the Sudan type get then the Mali,s?

The sloped back doesn't usually show up until they get a little bigger.

Typical sulcata males grow up to about 110-130 pounds. Typical Sudan males reach 250, and I've seen some that were over 300, and another that I'd estimate at 400+. The giant one I speak of was larger than the 400 pound Aldabras that I helped carry a few days prior. Interestingly, females of both types get around the same size of 60-80 pounds.

Oh ok 110 to 130 is good enough for me. LOL
