It is still a bit young to tell for sure, but it appears to be tending toward being a male.Hi all,
Here are pictures from all sides of my RF tortoise, could you please help sexing?
Cheers, Carlos
This tortoise is 8 inches and 8 years old and I am still not sure if it’s a he or sheIt is still a bit young to tell for sure, but it appears to be tending toward being a male.
I'm not that familiar with RF. Isn't the shape of the shell, the way it slants towards the rear abnormal and a sign of mbd?It is still a bit young to tell for sure, but it appears to be tending toward being a male.
Post pictures of the enclosure, lighting, diet heat source etc.
It appears male by the shape of the scutes but tail looks small like a female.
However if my concern of the slanting shell is true then that could play a role in its development.
I am going by size of tail. Seems small for a Male. Should be much larger. That where still being too young could play a part or if my suspicious of mbd are correct. Hopefully just too young yet.Someone after seeing the tail picture told me it's a male tale, because females have a round hole; and males a little elongated hole.
Nice enclosure.I got this RF from a friend last month, eats good, very active, walks a lot and in a normal way. This is the enclosure I built for he/her (9x6). Humidity is always around 80%. The first picture when it was unfinished; the second and the third from inside after it's done.

You see that a lot in CB tortoises. I would just be sure the tortoise gets his calcium and d3.I am going by size of tail. Seems small for a Male. Should be much larger. That where still being too young could play a part or if my suspicious of mbd are correct. Hopefully just too young yet.
@Yvonne G does this tort appear to have mbd?
