how could someone think that the tortoise looks even a little okay? It looks simply awful.I wonder how big it is? and If there is any way to help it get better? its just sad

They said its been the guy's backyard pet for 10 years or more. And the guy who found it says its 1'x2'. That's a pretty big sulcata. Amazing that they can live that long with such poor care. I wonder what kind of plants, if any, that they have in their backyard that the poor animal grew like that. There was obviously an injury to one side, as that side is all caved in. But quite a bit of the growth around the outside edge of the carapace looks pretty smooth. Maybe the guy got the tortoise 10 years ago, deformed already, and the past 10 years have been smooth growth. I guess we'll never know the whole story. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and assume the poor thing is now receiving good care.
yeah i was going to say the same thing, maybe the owner got the tortoises already deformed and the last owner was a bad keeper, We cant assume the owner is the cause. but he is pretty deformed.
I always get so upset when I see a tortoise like that. You have to figure not only is it pyramided but it must have MBD and some sort of organ dysfunction. And MBD is painful. I used to help my sister with her sick rescues, and I must say I don't miss that part at all. I do miss messing around with her and doing yard inspections and the information tables we used to set up. I miss a whole lot of tortoise messing around stuff with her, but I don't miss the sick, hurt, maimed and deformed animals at all.
I think one reason I get so mad, is it is so freakin easy to take care of a grazing tortoise.
everytime i turn around there is another one just as bad here is another one
it makes me sick people get a tortoise and thank its a dog throw some food in there and its fine.[/i]
