Ok, I really want to buy mulch today for the substrate for my sulcata. The only option that I have is a cypress mulch blend or eucalyptus mulch. Help! I have no clue if the eucalyptus is bad or what? And they dont know what is in the blend :( what should I get???

Its not a good idea to use mulch or bark from the trees with aromatic oils. I hang eucaluptus branches in my bird flight to keep mites out, but I wouldn't use it as substrate...something your tortoise can't get away from.

Others here on the forum use the "blended" cypress mulch from Lowe's and Home Depot, but I think its pine that's blended with it, not eucalyptus. Normally we don't encourage you to use pine, but it seems to be ok in this instance.

Cool beans! I went to Walmart and Home Depot (the closest stores) and they both had the same things. I really want to switch out this nasty hay today and finally get rid of it. Hurray, I can go now and get Bowsers area better :D

Plus I cant believe how cheap that stuff is. So much cheaper than hay in the long run.
