How do you know if your tort recognises you?

My tortoise runs at me when I walk in the room to feed her. How long have you had your tort? It can take a while.
They recognize the food god/goddess.

4 months. Whenever we go out for a walk and some stranger comes close. It goes between my feet. But when I come close it doesn't flinch at all. Is that somewhat of a recognising me? Also a few days ago I went for a trip and left some food before I left. My uncle came to take care of my sully once a day. It didn't eat the food I left it and that my uncle put in for it. Idk if its cos it doesn't trust him or cos of other reasons.
