I recently received two red eared sliders and it's been nearly a month now . Prior to posting this though , I had no idea overfeeding was such a bad habit , now I am scared that I have been overfeeding both of them and I was wondering if anyone could actually confirm whether or not I have .
Both of them are starting to grow a sort of "spine" on the back of their shells such that the middle of the shell is starting to peak upwards in a straight line , but other than that I see no significant signs yet . I feed them pellet food and and dried shrimps , which the pet seller recommended to me , maybe twice a day . Any opinions ? Also , I can post pictures if necessary .
Thanks for the help !

I have seen some pretty bumpy RES due to poor turtle-keeping habits, such as too small a container, cold water, too much or the wrong kind of food, etc. Usually water turtles don't pyramid.

I think you should cut back to feeding once a day, and I've heard that the shrimp isn't good for them.

Here's a site for you to read. Its authored by Mary Hopson, and she seems to really know her turtles:

Wow , thanks for the link ! & the fact that water turtles usually don't pyramid relieves me a lot !
I'm pretty sure it's the diet then , because the container I'm keeping them in gets plenty of sunlight , has a water warmer , and is unusually big for the two of them . I'll be sure to read up on what else to and not to feed them for the future !
& thanks for the welcome ! No better way to welcome me than to take such a huge worry off my shoulders haha
