I remember reading about the tortoise in similar situation and how the owner wanted to euthanize the tortoise because of lost limbs. So here is the alternative.

I had an adult desert tortoise named Mildred. She had her front leg chewed off by a dog and after she healed I glued a wheel in front where her leg would be. But the problem with a wheel is that they get stuck on rocks or a big bump or a twig. She couldn't maneuver around with that wheel at all. So I took that off and glued a furniture "slide" to that spot on her plastron and that worked really good. She used it without any trouble at all...the slide worked much better than a wheel as my yard was rough and bumpy...Here's a picture...

So funny you should post that, Maggie! Yesterday I was taking to one of our prosthetic/orthotic (braces and artificial limbs) experts about the Russian they have in their office, and the other thread about the poor tort that may loose it's hind legs and get fitted with wheels and his first comment was that wheels would be less than ideal for a tortoise, he would do a slider instead.

And here you did it!

this is awesome. May I ask how long the healing process was. And what you had to do to heal faster.
