red pee????

when i was cleanning out my pen i notices where one of the torts had peed and it went t the bottom on the lanolium and the first part of it was red then yellow im a little concened about the red part. im pritty sure its from the females cause its where they hide under the rocks. any thoughts??

If you've been feeding dandelion greens, that might be why.

i have been feeding them romain green leaf and red leaf haddock leaves and some dandelions when available it was all dried up so it may have been that. thank you i wont worrie now

My female Russian had red-tinged pee early in the summer, and others here told me that this is usually just due to pigments in dandelion. When I gave my tortoises a break from dandelions, the pink pee stopped as well. I would try stopping the dandelions for a while and see if the pee returns to clear (with white urates). If it does not stop, there could be something wrong with the kidneys, in which case you should take your tortoise to a vet. But odds are, it's just the dandelions. :)

well it was a while back and dried up so it very well could have been from the dandilions i fed them. as far as i can tell everything is back to normal
