We've had our two boys now for just over a month. We've kept their enclosure "furniture" in the same locations to help them acclimate to the environment. So... does anyone think it would be stressful for our young torts at this point to rearrange their enclosures? I want to switch out plants and hide spots, or move dishes about, but I don't want them to freak right out about it

I just did this to my indoor enclosure too. All my live plants are outside now, which I had previously used in his indoor enclosure. He wasn't too stressed about the change, but it definitely wasn't his favorite idea

I would not change it often, so whatever you plan to do, more permanent the better.

We have had at least one thread here devoted to changing or not changing the enclosure too much...I'm too lazy to look it up right now, but I remember that some members thought too many changes too frequently would stress their tortoises out by triggering their "fear of exposure to predators" vs. having the comfort of regular features that they know they're safe around and behind.

I'm inclined to think that subtle/gradual changes are best for their little tort-psyches...

Change oner aspect (maybe a plant)...2-3 days later, change another...etc.

This has always worked for me.
