hey everyone! just wanted to get some thoughts on what folks think of these redfoots at the local pet shop. i noticed they just look kinda dry and the shells look a bit rough. one of them seemed to be soaking for a long time, i wondered if it could even get out of the water... not sure if i got a picture of that one but it seems like such a small space for three tortoises.

It is too dry. The cheap inaccurate gage is too high and junk and it is too small. But it is a pet store so they won't have the correct space.
You could print out the care sheet and give it to them or suggest the changes needed.

You know the expression "if their lips are moving, they're lying". If its in a pet store, its probably bad.

Someone I've known for well over 30-35 years....That owns a reptile selling business that is well known. Keeps his baby tortoises. ALL OF THEM on dry rabbit pellets.
The last time I was at his business his baby Redfoot actually had dust on them. It was awful.
He just keeps them that way out of convenience and doesn't give a lot of thought (or care) to the animals welfare. It's why I never reccomend his business. (And seldom mention it here)
