Looks like some extreme pyramiding and some MBD any suggestion on how to prevent this from worsening? I know what’s done is done, but what can be done to help this little guy have a long life!

Hello and Welcome from another Chicagoan. That poor fella really had it ruff.
Set him up with a proper enclosure, heat, uvb, humidity, hydration and diet.

Sweet Home Chicago
And welcome from yet another Chicagoan. I've never seen pyramiding to the extent. Definitely lots of warm soaks and humidity. Good luck with him. You're great for helping him.

Good to see Chicago has love for Redfoots! The family before had him on a tortoise table with no shelter or water bowl big enough for him to soak.

That guy is lucky you got him. Long, long soaks every day, maybe add a bit of pedialyte to the water for rehydration 101. That is the worst I have seen too, the pyramiding.

OMG, Scott. Bless your heart. That poor tortoise has had to endure some pretty awful conditions . . . and he was strong enough to live through it!

Take a look at the info on redfooted tortoises at Thetortoiselibrary.com. (maybe it doesn't have "the" in front of it)
