I like to put structure in the box turtle enclosure such as pallets so they can get out of the sun or away from each other. It is hibernation time and I've noticed on warm days they'd go under the pallets instead of the kiddy pools and leaf piles. So I decided to make it a little more dry by using old dog food bags I save. They're basically tarps designed to keep the food dry during transport, so why not put them on top of the pallets to make them a little more dry. This is what I use on most of my turtle and tortoise houses( along with roof shingles) and it works.

I'm a great one for re-using stuff. I have about fifty million dog food bags, a huge supply of used lumber, a bunch of old bricks, a vacant 500square foot house full of used reptile and bird supplies, about 30 damaged-beyond-use garden hoses and shoes that go back to the platform era.
