So I have been reading through the rhp threads I could find but am still confused. I am constructing a greenhouse for winter time in Orlando Fl. I do not have my tortoise yet but am getting an adult or near adult leopard. Members have said that basking lamps can burn the scutes on a large tortoise. I plan to have a heated night box with rhp or oil filled radiator inside the greenhouse. But if I have the night box at low 80s, what do I do about basking if the weather is bad during the day if I can’t use basking lamp to get the 95-100 degree basking temp. Would I set up a different area in my greenhouse with an rhp set for 95 degrees? I don’t want to have an issue where digestion is a problem due to temps being in mid 80s without the 95-100 basking temp. In the winter the highs are not going to be always warm enough for the tortoise to go into the outside run? Would someone please clarify? Thanks!

You can use a basking light, just make sure it's 15" or better above the tortoise's back. For ambient heat in the greenhouse you use an oil filled radiator type electric heater.
