Just making sure this is okay for my baby leopard? I monitor his temps and it is usually 100 at basking and stays at 80 at night. A new hut is coming tomorrow for him to replace his little cardboard box. Also getting a misting bottle to increase humidity. Any other tips?

Looks quite messy at the moment because my baby is constantly active in the morning and always pushes up against the glass.

Get rid of those dishes. The sides are too steep and torts tip over in them. Use a terracotta plant saucer sunk into the substrate for water and a flat piece of slate or tile for food (which will also help with beak maintenance)

The substrate looks quite dry - orchid bark or coco coir hold the moisture better.

What lamps do you have in those holders? I am particularly concerned about UVB. The compact (coil type) bulbs cause eye problems.

JoesMum: Normally they are plunged into the substrate but he makes a mess and shifts everything around! Everything is always fixed in the morning when he's awake. I just don't want to disturb him when he's asleep. If I get a mister will I be okay to keep the substrate he has now? And no they aren't coil types. Its the zoo med repti lamps.

That's good, however, when he's inside the dish, climbing out is when the steep sides might cause him to tip over backwards into the water and drown.

Yvonne: I will post a picture tomorrow morning how it normally looks! I put enough substrate so that way there are no steep sides for him to fall on. Normally, it looks like a ramp. This is post-running around activities !:tort:

We're talking about the steep sides on the INSIDE of the dish. When a baby is inside the dish and he tries to climb OUT, he might tip over backwards and land upside down in the water. A plant saucer, sunk into the substrate, offers slanted sides so the baby doesn't have to over balance climbing out.
