They are fat right out of the egg .

So cute! What temps did you use? How long did they incubate for?

They were laid 5/21/14. 60 days to the day. Incubated at 86/87 degrees and kept it around 60-80 percent humidity.

So sweet, must have been lovely to watch being born. How many babies did she have!

I had 10 Russian eggs and a bunch of ebt eggs, but my incubator accidentally got turned up and cooked most of the eggs. So as of now i have one more that is viable, and one that is "iffy". I'm sure I have a bunch that are still outside. But my tortoise camera shorted out in a storm, so I can't check on them during the day. So I don't know where the females have laid. But I weigh them regularly, so I know some females have dropped a few eggs. Weather hasn't really been great for natural incubation. But, we will have to wait and see. Towards the end of the season, I'll dig up the enclosure and go egg hunting...

Thats amazing . Never tried tortoise eggs before, would love to for experience. I too had accident with incubator when bred my bearded dragons years ago, someone accidentally turned incubator off instead of lamp was so upset. Amazing eggs that did survive next time, especially watching eggs break open and babies running around. you are so lucky to watch these babies hatching. Thanks

My last clutch failed, as I discovered yesterday. I think there may be a nest in the outdoor habitat but I'm leaving it undisturbed for now. I'm so happy when anyone's eggs hatch.

Wouldn't it be awesome if we had a way to find eggs in the enclosure without having to dig. Like a metal detector. I have contemplated about training my next dog to smell for eggs. both are out.
