That's too bad. You sound like a very caring tortoise owner.

I remember your other post.
Can you provide most of her other needs? Health weeds and greens? soaks?
Would your tort be able to spend late spring/summer/early autumn outside? That may be enough UV for the year and you could use a regular house bulb for warmth, which is what some owners in the Northern US do.

I saw your other post. It can be expensive keeping tortoises, mainly for the initial set up, but there are some ongoing expenses.

You can try to find a decent home also through the Tortoise Trust web site.
You would have to join, then go the the 'Rescue and Rehoming (public)' site on the main page (scroll down).
A female Horsfield should not be hard to place.

The bulbs are much less expensive if you find a way to order them online. I got my tube flourescent ZooMed bulb online for I think $23 where most pet stores are asking around $50

I got my Reptiglo 5.0 (an 18 inch one) from LLLReptile for under $12 I believe.

since they area species that hibernates.. Im thinking, as long as its outside in the summer and spring... you should be ok thru the winter without.. but do look on line.. and watch for sales..
