Coco coir is AWESOME, has to be my favorite subsrtae! Repti bark is great too (basically just orchid bark, which is actually popular with lots of peeps)

I'm about to try a mix of peat moss and cypress mulch. I have been using just plain cypress mulch which is great, I just wanted something that plants can grow in easily and is safe for torts.

That's what I have been doing and it works great. It's easy for them to dig into and retains some moisture. My torts love it
