russian tort not eating much

hi all


ive had my russaian for about 3 weeks now. he was eating decent, and i would see small portions of green poop maybe 2 times a week, and one urine with urate that I could see.
as of this last week i can not get him to eat very well, and have not seen any urine or poop. i soak about three times per week, and this week he has had a mixture of endive, collarg greens, and romaine lettuce with the salad toppper bought off the link that tom gave. I also have tried cactus leaves. basking temp is 97-99 warm end 75 and cool end 65..nght temps low 60s...what can i do differently??

When spring comes, look into getting a larger setup. Russians like a lot if space! Come spring, yours will be pacing around that enclosure. It's a nice looking enclosure, really, it's just not ideal.

3 weeks is not very long. You have to remember his whole world has changed now that you own him. Also, this species usually goes into hibernation by now. I never allowed mine to go into hibernation, so I did exactly what you're doing with heat and soaks. He will not eat very much, sleep a lot, and won't be very active.

Your night time temp could be upped. I don't let mine go below 70. Especially since this is the time of year they slow down.

Should I keep a different heat lamp on through the night or should I get a warmer for under where he burrows at night??? I've got that separated portion that is covered. What would you guys suggest.

I'd say you could just throw a heavy blanket over the enclosure, but not too close to the bulb. It'll keep your heat in
