I feed my TTs and CDTs the same as my russians, ect the CDTs get California desert flowers as of today.
I would just feed varied greens. weigh him again in a week or so. Its a shame hes not friendly and hes so mad because his face is so cute!

you know laura, after my 2nd post I went back and looked and thought the same thing. I think its his over all shape that isnt very "russian-y" but the rest of him looks very russian to me. Hes got kind of a weird oblong shape which could be attributed to the weird shell issue going on. A stunted greek seemed to far out of the question.. but maybe I'm just being dense. Maybe we should ask Danny?

So are their tails not normally that big? I feel bad for the little dude! I didn't soak him tonight as it's really chilly and rainy here. Rachael, thanks for the food info. Nobody tortie wise gets any fruit here so we are good in that area. He will just get whatever is on the menu like everyone else!! :D

I think he is definitely a Russian, I think you are right it is some kind of stunted growth as a result of poor husbandry I've seen it before on a couple other Russians.

Yes Greeks are larger, she meant stunted because its a bit small for a greek but a bit large for a russian male. Female russians are bigger.

Im sticking to the first advice I gave either way. No treats, only greens.. same feeding schedule as your feeding DTs. Same stuff too. Im not even sure I would feed mazuri right now either. Hes a grown tort and probably wont want much to do it with it just yet anyway. :)

It is a male Russian tortoise that hasn't had the best care. Probably an indoor tortoise with too much food and not enough UVB. First thing he did when they put him outside to sun was run away!

Russian tortoises don't eat much grass, preferring the broad-leafed weeds and plants.

Does he look like an adult or juvenile? I know Russians are pretty small, but I don't know how big they are full grown.

Do Russians usually like cactus? He wasn't interest in the aloe vera.

Hey Fernando are you going to be my new Daddy?
