What do you mean by crossbreed?Curious to know if Russian's need to be crossbreed.
Thanks
Sorry, I didn't mean crossbreed. I have several adult pairs of Russian's, they had babies, eight of them. What I was wondering if when they get older and I keep them together would there be a problem with INBREEDING if I did that. I keep all my Russian's outside except for the new hatchlings. Thanks to all who replied. What do you mean by crossbreed?
Yes they will inbreed if you let them.Sorry, I didn't mean crossbreed. I have several adult pairs of Russian's, they had babies, eight of them. Thanks, I know that is a problem for warm blooded animals but is it a problem for tortoises?Yes they will inbreed if you let them.
Yes. Eventually, though I'm told by a geneticist that it takes longer (more generations) for there to be problems with "lower" animals like reptiles when compared to "higher" animals like mammals or birds. Takes even longer with insects like roaches. Thanks, I know that is a problem for warm blooded animals but is it a problem for tortoises?
