IMG_7564.JPG Hi guys! My 3 mo old Russian looks like she has some skin peeling off of her face, right under her mouth there. I've attached some pictures of what it looks like. Her head is dark but this patch is lighter and looks flaky. I soak her everyday and I have her in cypress mulch that I wet pretty often with two heat bulbs. I feed her dandelion leaves and aloe since that's the only thing she likes to eat right now haha! I've never had a tortoise before so is this something that's normal? It just caught me off guard. Thanks!

I can't see too much in these photos but tortoises do shed their skin in patches. They aren't like snakes that shed it all in one go.

It can look a little scary; the neck peeling looked extra icky to me! Don't pick it; just wait for it to fall off by itself. Soaks may help things go a little faster.

Thank you! I didn't realize! I thought maybe she scratched herself on her substrate or something. Thanks! :)

Your tort looks well. And cute.:)

Make sure there's enough humidity, and that you give him/her daily soaks in warm water, especially if you live in a dry climate.

And a very warm welcome to the forum!
