Setting up a vivarium

Hi, i have a vivarium for my hermann tortoise, i have a hideout, a food bowl and water bowl and a rock at the minute. Is there a specific way to set it up? for example.. should i put the hideout near the heat source and the food at the other end?

Yes, but its always nice to have another hide on the cooler end too.

would it be safe there though because it would be on top of the heat mat.
