Do tortoises shed skin? Stella my hermann looks to have patches on her legs but only seems to be on the back? She wriggles around when shes having a bath and its when her back legs were stretched out that I picked up on this? Not sure in her shell is rubbing against them, or if I need to worry about an access or if its just shedding skin? The photos aren't the best but any advice would be appreciated!

I have had tortoises shed skin especially on their back legs where they rub on the shell. I don't know if it is something to be worried about with your tortoise or not, but it didn't hurt mine.

Thank you that makes me feel a bit better!

Hello, my little man has some shedding on his legs but I'm a little worried it's not just normal shedding. Anyone?
His behaviour hasn't changed at all, still eating and always happy and socialble.

Off the bat looking at the photos I’m not sure this looks entirely normal(though it’s a little tricky to say by just the pictures) they skin almost looks like it’s sloughing off in areas. But that could be the lighting.

You might benefit making a new thread to get replies as this one is quite old. It’d be good if you can include the following information!

What are your temperatures like? Ie basking temp(directly under the bulb), overall day temps, night temps?
What kind of basking bulb is being used specifically? Packaging photos are good if you have any
What kind of uvb bulb are you using?
How’s humidity reading?
What kind of monitoring do you have?
What do you use for substrate?
What are you offering diet wise?

A photo of the full enclosure would be great! Welcome to the forum!🐢💚
