I have 2 that just hatched. Is it ok to keep them in the same indoor tank or should I have 2 tanks with one in each?

You can keep them together, but you have to be VERY, VERY observant with them. Baby box turtles are mighty carnivorous and they WILL bite at each other. Keep them well fed and have many hiding places, along with a profusion of plants in a large enclosure.

I've never raised groups of box turtle hatchlings. @Yvonne G , are they similar to tortoises in that they will usually get along in groups, or are they better housed alone? Of course, already noting all the details you listed above.

They try to eat each other (but less so if you keep them very well fed). Box turtles are very personable and get along quite well in groups, but keeping them together as babies is risky. Groups of adults get along just fine.

I never would have guessed that !
You never know , I have a group of box turtles , and at least one of them was bred a month ago , so it's always possible babies will appear in the Spring.

So much to learn about every type. :).

I've housed baby box turtles together but fed them individually in a 1/2 inch of water in small Tupperware containers. They especially like reptomin sticks this way.
Worms fed to a group will send them into a feeding frenzy and they will bite each other on the legs, face and tail.
