IMG_1069.JPG Hi, I am a new member and also new to having a tortoise, he has been in his new home for a week, his name is Simba and he is a 5 year old Lepard tortoise and rather gorgeous, I was given the cage and set-up for him, when I bought him but I think he is bored and keeps moving the hideout around, don't know if it's too big in there or do I get him another cage with a upstairs, as space is limited in my lounge, does anyone know where I could get a cage like that ? Too cold for him outside and in the lounge, he will always have company and it's the warmest room in the house, any help will be appreciated, thank you.

His enclosure is way too small . If he's in doors you can build a 4/8 enclosure for winter but when summer comes he needs a outdoor setup . You take a sheet of plywood and some 2/10 boards screw the boads together on the corners then nail the plywood to the 2/10 boards to make a box .The water poof it with a pond liner or flex seal the wood . Build stands for lighting and Bam new setup .

Hello, and welcome to Tortoise Forum.:)
You need to remove the red light, too, it encourages substrate eating, tortoises like to eat red things. And he needs humidity, so a substrate such as fine grade orchid bark, coco coir or cypress mulch is needed.
Have a look at http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/beginner-mistakes.45180/
and http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/how-to-raise-a-healthy-sulcata-or-leopard-version-2-0.79895/
For lots of good, up to date care information.

I second everything said. Tortoises need a lot of room to roam. I rescued a tortoise, leopard kept in too small of an enclosure and had to help him learn how to walk and not just skid around. Cut out one end and add on. A leopard gets big and will need a room sized enclosure at the very least.

Thanks for your reply, we have just ordered simba a much bigger cage, a lot wider and two floors, hopefully his forever home and replaced the red light with a white one, need to keep the new member of our family, healthy and happy.
