Both of my female (only just worked out) torts are both the same age however one is noticeably smaller than the other...any particular reason why?:)

The stress of living as a pair often suppresses growth and appetite of the "weaker" member of the pair. Tortoises should not live in pairs in most cases.

And they should never live on sand as a substrate either.

Bumholes! I always got told that you should keep them in a pair because they get 'lonely' so i guess im going to have to split them up :(

You are not the first person to be told that. Ignorance and misconception are rampant in the tortoise world, so be glad you found this site. :)
