I noticed my sulcata hatchling sometimes tends to fall asleep while under his basking lamp. He does seem to move when he gets too hot or he's bored. I just want to make sure he's not going to be hurt by doing this. Will they wake up when they start to get too hot? Also at what point is a sulcata no longer considered a hatchling?

Perfectly common and normal....I mean, when the weather is cold I wish I had a big ole basking spot :)D) I would easily fall out right under it as well....

I believe after a year the hatchling stage begins to fade away...even though they are still little...

When the egg tooth is gone they are promoted from Hatchling to "Baby Sulcata" status. They are still little and need lots of attention. From 1 year to their 2nd birthday they are yearlings. They grow a lot during that time and begin to develop personality.
