Well the title says it all

Nelson is very active, eating well, gaining weight at a steady rate...
But is their poop supposed to stink?!
He tends to poop in his water dish, which obviously makes it smell worse because sometimes it will be in there for an hour before I notice it (though I'm not in school or working at the moment due to winter break, so I pretty much tend to the little man 24/7!)

He pooped in his food dish the other night and it was a normal consistency and color (although it tends to be more on the black side.)

I am very sensitive to odors, and it's only noticeable if I practically stick my head in his enclosure  I'm just a paranoid, first-time tort-mom...once again...

Could it be parasites? I have no problem taking a fecal sample to a vet.

Nope, just nice normal tort poop IMO. I pick through Novalee's cage and find all her nice dried leavings, and then I put them in a plant and water the plant to help give it some nutrients from the poo (I tend to kill houseplants so any trick I can use, I do) and MAN it stinks to high heaven for a bit.

Thats a good idea Meg, recycling fertilizer =] Do you use it with your weeds that you grow? Or just regular houseplants?

For those of you who want to use tort poop in your potted plants, I would suggest digging a little hole in the soil put the poop in and then cover it up so you get the poop benefits and it should not smell as bad.
