How old is yours? When I first got mine, he was lighter, but as his shell grew, the new growth is dark

I was told he was a yr old when I got him 9 months ago (late November 2011). So I'm assuming that's how old he is; I think he might be a little bit younger though. His new growth is

I was told when I got him 9 months ago he was a yr old, so I'm assuming that's how old he is. Based on other torts I've seen on the forum though, I think he might be a little bit younger. His new growth is dark. When I first got him, he was mostly lighter and as he's growing the light part is shrinking to only the tips of his scutes. I'm also starting to think he's a lady!
