Most keepers will tell you he will not be lonely because tortoises are pretty much loners except when mating. Some males are aggressive to other males and may intimidate them so the second one won't flourish as well as if kept alone. Some keepers though have experienced a bonding between their tortoises. If I'm not mistaken, they are usually the ones raised together or from a young age. I've kept my male leopards separated because the larger one rams the younger one if he doesn't like where he is in the yard.
