I'd like to get a space heater for our outdoor shed for when my CDTs come in on chilly nights. Any suggestions? They'll be in Rubbermaids. This isn't for over-wintering or for daytime heat, but for nights between now and brumation when temps get in the 50s and low 60s.

I like the oil filled radiator type heaters, been using them for years without any problems or safety concerns when used properly.

I agree, the oil filled ones are a good choice. Safety wise I think they are the safest! They give off a nice stay heat and generally are not too hot to the touch.

My space heater barely heats up my room, I highly doubt it'll work in space.

Sorry I couldn't resist [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY][FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY][FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

I'm pretty sure that Maggie3fan uses one in (100+ pound sully ) Bob's shed. I think it is in a wooden case too. Do a search on TFO for her.

I too an using a oil filled for this winter. Also, that is what Tom uses in his Sullies night boxes, along with a reptile radiant heat panel. Search for his night box thread and you will be able to see his heater and radiant panel.

I use an oil filled radiator in my insulated greenhouse. It worked very well, never had to set it above 3-4 on the 600w setting. It is for background heat, not high heat. That would be achieved with a basking light and/or pig blanket (for a large tort) in one area.
These heaters work very well in smaller areas (sheds, etc.). Entire rooms are a bit more difficult.

I think insulation is the key. I have seen small Rubbermaid storage sheds that are insulated (then lined to protect the insulation).
