Okay I like to grow plants and I've read about the various plants that you can give to the torts to feed them. I would love to give dandilions to my tort, but I'm so paranoid about posions and pollution that I can't bring myself to go find some.

I know wheat grass is super easy to grow and I thought about growing some for my new tort, but then I saw that it should only be given in small amounts to torts.

Are there are any plants anyone here grows in pots or small gardens that they could recommend to me? It would be greatly appreciated!

There are a couple sites (well, I'm sure there are more, but only two that I personally know about) that sell seeds good to grow for tortoises:

carolinapetsupply.com
turtlestuff.com

I have bought from both of these places and they have a nice variety of seeds.

There is also turtlecafe.com but I have not bought from them so can't recommend them.

I see you are from Oklahoma City and have a RT. One thing you may want to grow for your guy in his outdoor is native grasses (ie big & little bluestem, buffalo grass, and grama grass), native plants (purple coneflower and black-eyed susan), and prickly pear cactus. All these will grow well for you and they approximate the native flora that RTs eat in wild (N. American prairie & Central Asian Steppes are parellal habitats).

Thank you so much you 2! Once I start feeling better I'll go get some supplies and start growing! I'm so excited!
