Hi I have had Greek spur thighs in the past and just got a pair of sulcatas. My question is when feeding flowers such as pansies and hibiscus etc there are so many different types does it matter what type or all flowers of the group safe
Thanks for any replies in advance

Hello and welcome.

I think I get what you are asking. Yes all pansies are safe, regardless of color or variety. Same with hibiscus, lavatera, dandelion, roses, sunflowers, gazania, marigolds, etc…

What you have to be careful of is the source. If you buy them from a garden center or hardware store, they are laced with systemic pesticides that can last a year in the plants tissues. If you grow them yourself from seed or get them from a known safe source, you will be all good.

Also, flowers should only make up a small percentage of the diet. Check out this thread: http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/for-those-who-have-a-young-sulcata.76744/

Also, I hope you are housing them separately, because sulcatas do not do well as a pair. Groups of babies or juveniles usually work, but not pairs. They don't need or want a companion, and they won't be "friends". More info here:
