Hi All,
My 10yr old sulcatta keeps eating the leaves from the tree in the backyard. I’ve attached a photo of him in his yard, showing that there is grass available (which he does eat). I’ve also attached a photo of the tree most of the leaves come from. I’m wondering if these leaves could be detrimental to his health? I remove the leaves for aesthetic purposes but can be more vigilant if they turn out to be bad for him. Could anyone help identity the tree as well?

Thanks
Ari

The only way to answer this is to ID the tree. I can't tell from the picture, but this might be a mulberry tree. If it is, that is excellent tortoise food. If it is not, the leaves might be toxic.

Post pics of the trunk showing the bark close up and a close up of the leaves too.

Clip a branch and take it to a local plant nursery for ID too. If it is mulberry, you are golden!
