I have this tree in my backyard, we have always kept it bare but little branches with leaves sprout off. Yesterday my dad was cutting it and there are a lot of leaves on the ground that my Greek is eating. I removed them all but wanted to see if maybe someone could help me ID the tree and if its safe.ImageUploadedByTortForum1370971130.191395.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1370971138.245685.jpg

Looks sort of like a privet...a shrub that has been trimmed into a tree shape.

Pics of privet on the left and myrtle on the right,if you could get a good pic of the bark it may be easier to identify and tell if it is either one of these

It's not crepe myrtle, still not sure about being privet, I have privet pop up everywhere and never seen any of my torts show an interest in it, but I don't have Greek tortoises.

The more I look at it, the more I notice that the leaves on this tree look just like the crap growing all over my fence.

Never mind.

The tree one is thin and rubbery feeling. It is on the left. The stuff growing on my wall is coarse and more firm. Pictured on the right.

I am almost positive it's privet. I have it all over my yard. It is impossible to get rid of and pops up everywhere.

The tree, but true fully privet is a bush that can climb and vine like the pictures. I have a 40 foot privet tree and privet vines growing up a fence just like the picture. You can take a clipping to your local plant shop and verify. What ever it is I would not let your tort eat it.

He hasn't had an interest at all in the stuff growing on the wall luckily. Just took a few nibbles of the stuff that was on the floor from the tree. I'll keep an eye out.
