The tail is short, and seems to be a female. I think you're right. We were going to have her ship her to us overnight so we could take her to the vet to have the prolapse fixed. Do you really feel euthanasia is the only option? Dana and I want to try and save her if we can. I know that if we can get the prolapse fixed that she can still live a good life with us.
I agree. Many in worse shape has been living a long life. I think it's worth a chance to save her. If anyone can, you two can. Good luck.

Euthanasia is not the only option, of course. If you want to try to salvage the tortoise, by all means, go ahead and try.

I am just of the opinion that the animal has already suffered enough, and prolapse surgery with the recovery period afterwards is just adding more suffering.

I don't expect everyone to agree with my reasoning. I just know what I would do personally.

We are always grateful for your opinion! Don’t get me wrong, I just wanted your feeling on if you felt the euthanasia was the only option. Thank you! We will do our best to save her!

An update on this precious little girl. She is now with the angels and not suffering any longer. Her owner was kind enough to allow us to consult with our vet Dr Molnar and the conclusion was he felt the prolapse was a bladder prolapse and likely a large stone being the cause from the history of the lack of care for so long. He advised that after the surgery, there would be no quality of life. We had to try and exhaust all efforts. Her owner (who rescued her from a life of misery) made the right decision, given the proper assessment by a real tortoise vet. Scooter has been laid to rest and will suffer no more. Thank you everyone for all your professional opinions, this is what is so amazing with the tortoise forum. @cr8zybirdl8dy from our hearts to yours, may she rest in peace. We hope your heart begins to heal today and each day forward. With all our love at Joshua Tree Reptile Haven! 🐢💚😔
