I've been recording my hatchling's weight for about two months. At first he was gaining about 7-10g a week and then about three weeks ago he dipped to only about 4-5g a week. Is this something to worry about? His diet wasn't all that varied. Mostly spring mix. Recently I got a grass mix from sulcatafood.com and have been incorporating that into his diet. We are in the middle of winter right now but, I plan on getting some weeds and such one things start growing in the spring.

If its gaining that is really all that matters. I recommend u add mazuri pellets to the diet. This will cover any nutritional deficiencies.

Where in the world is it the middle of winter?

What was his initial weight and what is his weight now?

Where did you get the tortoise and how was it started in its first few weeks?

Upstate New York. Spring doesn't happen until June it seems. He was started dry. I was raising him dry for the first few weeks I had him as well. Then I raised the humidity in his enclosure and started soaking him daily. And that's when I starred recording his weight. He started at 99g on january 4th. And this last Sunday he weighed 157g.

At that size you are probably fine.

If he had started at 30 and was now stalled at 50, I would be more concerned.
