Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask a question about Hermann tortoises. I will be getting one soon a baby to be exact. I live in Florida and of course there is a lot of sun here. I wanted to know if I kept my tortoise outside in sunlight for 1-2 hours every day if that would be enough for his D3 intake? Also could I give him calcium + D3 supplement and would that be enough or to much? I read somewhere that 30-40 mins of sunlight is like having a uvb bulb on for 10 hours. If that is true then I'd guess giving him D3 supplements might be to much and posion him. But then again he is a growing baby so will he need more D3 or will the 1-2 hours of outside time be enough? Please help if you can and thank you very much for your time

If he gets that much sun there is no reason to spend money on extra D3, although the amount in calcium powders is pretty skimpy and unlikely to trigger a problem.
