My husband has never particularly cared about the turtles, and he's never really spent time observing them until today. We were attempting to flush out the gophers that have been wreaking havoc on our lawn, but the only thing we managed to turn up was one enormous potato bug.

Since acquiring the boxies I now think of creepy crawlers as turtle food. A potato bug is much too delightful to waste, so I grabbed it with tongs and went looking for a turtle. I unearthed Necker from a pile of leaves and set the bug in front of him.

The potato bug took off, with the turtle in hot pursuit. My husband was shocked. "My god, he's a predator!" I think he appreciates them a tiny bit more now.

I had something similar this weekend. My girls nor husband are very into the turtles. I let all three of mine roam the backyard for a little while to get some sun. I had the girls help me keep track of them. They had a lot of fun with the one who is very active, as he chased them all over the yard.

You just have to pay attention enough to catch turtles in the right moment and they are awesome.

Love it! Same here, my dear boyfriend appreciates my love for the turtles, but I'm still waiting for his "ahah!" moment. :)

Yesterday when I got home from work he asked where I put all the turtles. Said he looked in the yard and couldn't find any. They were all in their usual evening spots, he was stunned when I went out and came back in with all of them.
