... in my animal family arrived today - an about 4 (?) years old EBT - YAHOOOOOO

I'm sooo excited. I do have at least too, but, they live in my backyard, and that's where they should stay....

If I'm not mistaking it's a girl, by the looks of the carapace, eye color...

Here are some pics, not the best quality since taken w/my phone.

Please have a look and let me know about the gender.

Thanks, Astrid

Very pretty boxie :D :D

Can you get a clear picture of the back legs? I am not convinced it is female ;)

Males typically have thicker legs and longer nails... I have to admit, this one has me stumped, but I am leaning towards male. I usually don't have that much trouble with sexing them, lol.

It is a gorgeous boxie, and I agree about captive breds. It is nice to see CB individuals rather than ones that have been ripped from their natural environment.

well, I don't care for the sex, I don't intend to breed. But I made a mistake as far as captive bred is concerned. The previous owner told me that her dog brought it home one day, it was very small, so they kept it. The husband is now stationed in Germany and they can't take it with them. From the looks, it seems to be in good condition. The housing was just not up to standard - 75 g fish tank, and nothing interesting in there... That already changed, after a nice soak :), but is still temporary. My hubby doesn't know yet, that he has to built 2 tort tables. Oh well, we have all the material, he is in the woodworking business - yay
