This "owner" seems to be a real hustler. I added color to some of the more concerning phrases... Be sure to notice the "waterer" he has his fingers on.

What a cool Christmas gift! Meet Bowser, our 7 yr old Tuscan Western Herman. They are a pretty rare breed and known for their cool, easy going demeanor. He’s as big as he will get at roughly 3.5-4 inches and will out live all of us! He’s super cool and loves people but unfortunately our son has hit an age where he’s focused on so many other things and we feel it’s time Bowser relocate to a home that can spend more time with him. He’s very easy to care for and only requires food every few days so even if you have a vacation planned he wouldn’t interfere as long as you’re not gone too long. He comes with a habitat, lights, heater, everything you need and since he’s not a hatchling you don’t have to worry about the precious first couple of years where something might go wrong. He’s super rare and you really can’t fix this breed anywhere and considered almost endangered although not endangered yet. We really want him going to a good home so we will be selective on his new home.

Here’s some information on what a young one would cost as well as some basic information about care.

Honestly for Craigslist, not that surprised. People put tortoises (sulcata!) for sale for thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars all the time. If I just look at my local CL right now I see:

Burmese Stars $3500, $900
Sulcatas with pyramiding: $500, $400, $300, $250
healhty looking sulcata 150lbs: $900
Albino Sulcata: $1450

I regular see run-of-the-mill large sulcata being "re-homed" for anywhere from $500-1500

People just see those prices and think they are goldmines.
