A few things-
The bedding (rabbit pellets) are very bad. Aim for things such as damp coco coir, or damp EcoEarth.
Second, the water dish you have is good, could be bigger, and because the edges are a but steep, you may want to bury it a tad.
Next, what type of bulb are you using? It seems kind of harsh in that one area. Can you check the temperature of the rest of the cage? Is it all somewhat the same? Also, be sure not to use a coil bulb (if you are indeed using one.
What are the dimensions of the cage? It on the smaller side. Do you plan to set up an outdoor enclosure?
I don't usually get the rabbit pellets but my pet shop was out of sandy soil bedding. I think the light was just strong In the picture but I will check it.Thanks for the advice.
the animals have a very hard time walking on the pellets and it causes a condition called...'splay leg'. Sand can cause impaction plus they need some humidity. So you need a substrate you can keep damp. I use fine grade orchid bark, bought at the big box stores or a nursery. FYI, don't use anything with pine or cedar in it as they are toxic to tortoises. Welcome to TFO...
Do the 5 xpeople have torts , do they interact with the TFO , so they can explain how they feel Med soil would be good for the torts . But still a great looking tort . Have a great day :-(
