I found these bite-size timothy hay cubes on Amazon and decided to give them a try. I soak them for 15min or so and they get nice and soft. I am very happy to report that both my Burmese Star and Elongated tortoise love these timothy hay cubes! The are soft and easy to eat for small to medium size tortoises. I thought I'd share.

Thanks for sharing. Members are always looking for new items to add. Seeing Timothy hay is not the best as it's very woody, this is a good way to add it in.

Just an fyi, you can buy Timothy pellets and possibly orchard hay pellets at large animal feed stores. They too have to be soaked, but they don't look as good as the ones in your pic

Yes. I've tried many hay pellets in the past and most are too hard, don't soak well, or too woody as you stated. You will be very surprised how well these soak and how soft and easy to feed for small or medium sized tortoise. Very similar to Mazuri pellets, but you do have to soak a little longer.

I've not tried my Russian on Timothy before but I might now. That would be a wonderful addition to his diet.

I like the format, but the price is way too high for the volume I need. Seems like it would be great for someone who only needs a small amount periodically.

My feed store sells two brands of Timothy pellets. One brand soaks up the water like a sponge and is ready to go in five minutes. The other brand takes an hour or two to soften up. Both are about $20 for a 50 pound bag.

What the name of the brand that soaks up easily?
