I've decided to get a hatchling stinkpot musk turtle and will be ordering it soon, does anyone have any tips for taking care of them? Such as,if they like deep water or shallow or if they are active or slow moving,or anything like that.
Thanks ,=,e

Definitely want to start off with slow moving shallow water, you can raise the water slowly over time. I suggest you provide plants and things they can climb since they arent the best swimmers, also places to hide is good too. Although they are not aggressive baskers like other turtles, a basking area should still be set up cause they will do it occasionally.

Our stink pot live in the tank with a few razors and he is great swims really well and very energetic. I have lots of droftwood and live plants for him to crawl up musk tend to walk and crawl rather swim, but don't let them fool you, they can swim, they swim very well.

Mine also swims very well. Water level is 30 cm for 6 cm razorback. Just don't put too high current so they can walk freely on the bottom. I put basking platform for him, but only once I saw him crawl there. He never ever basks, but he likes to crawl on the artificial plant I put inside and stay inside it.

Another thing I find is that my razorback makes quite good community with my picta dorsalis if you ever have the thought to mix your musk turtles. Many times they will stay together on the plant and in fact it seems that the razorback is more shy when being approached by the picta turtle.

They're awesome turtles that can live in a good size tank and do well in a natural setup. Just do like everyone said and give them plenty of things to crawl on through the water column. Definitely one of my favorite turtles, enjoy.
