Tort table Resurrection,

Alright all,

i finally got to the storage unit today and got the tort table out. its a futon frame with a 1/8th inch plywood bottom over the futon slats and oak plywood walls. i made a super structure to hold all the lights.

things that i am going to get that we talked about are some kind of fake plants to go around the edges. what can i get that she will not try to eat? also, i noticed she hasnt moved her bowels in about a week dispite all the greens ive been feeding her and soaking her every day. hopefully this does the trick.

I am on a list serve that is for Sulcata and Leopards and we have discussed in the past that Leopards don't poop nearly as often as Sulcata do. Leopards don't poop very often at all...I hope this takes away some of your worries...

I have two 20lb leopards that live in a shed with access to outside and grazing 24/7/365. I don't feed them, they just eat the grass and weeds. Because there are only two of them, its easy for me to see when they poop. It isn't often, maybe twice a week, but when they do go, its BOMBS AWAY!! I swear they poop more than a full grown sulcata.

If you're really worried she might be constipated, clean out your bath tub good to get rid of any soap residue, and put some warm water in it so it comes up to the middle of the tortoise's sides. I say the bath tub because walking around in the warm water gives them exercise and stimulates the bowels.

Any fake plants from an arts and crafts store or something like that will work. I like ferns or something that hangs that they can potentially use as a hide as well. She may nibble on them at first but she will realize it isn't food and leave it alone. Your table looks nice, one thing I might add would be a large terra cotta pot saucer for a water dish. You can probably get a 12 inch saucer at a home improvement store for under 10 dollars that she should be able to fit into. That way she can soak herself at will.

If it doesn't have an edible smell to it my Sulcata won't even bother it, he smell it and keeps going. they learn fast whats food and what's not.

Bowel movements once or twice a week has been my experience as well with leopards. If you get to about a week and a half I would consider a vet visit.
