Hi everyone, If heard of shell cleaning/waxing. Is there a certain type of cream or liquid to use that I could by at a pet store? I've also heard of homemade stuff I can mix to make. It's this true and what could I uses that won't harm the tortoises's shell.
Thanks

i wouldn't actually clean a tortoise shell with anything but hot water and a face cloth maybe. soak them for a bit and get their shells wet. never use a chemical wash, anything from under your sink or even abrasive scrubs because they can feel their shell. if it doesn't come off with hot water and some elbow grease, its probably part of your tortoises pattern :)

there is a cream called vita shell and i have heard of other organic nut oils some people use, but these are for hydrating and keeping the shell healthy, not cleaning them.

and as for waxing, its an animal, not a car. i don't see any purpose in waxing it other than leaving a thick residue that suffocates the shell and probably attracts the substrate like glue.
