Tortoise Sleeping A Lot

I have a four year old Russian tortoise. Lately, he's been going to sleep and 4 pm and not waking up until 9 or 10 am. He also sleeps for the majority of the day. I soak him 2 times a week, but he is just sleeping even more. Thoughts?!

What temp do you have his enclosure/basking spot at? Perhaps it's too cold for him?

His basking spot is 85 and the other end is about 78

You need a larger range of temperatures. Your low temperature for the cool end should be more like 75 degrees and the basking spot should be close to 95 degrees. At night the cool temperature should drop down to about 65 degrees.

If you basking light is in the middle of your enclosure it may not promote a large enough temperature differential. I like to have the basking spot on one end so the other end will naturally be cooler.
