hi everyone i have a year old marginated tortoise and i was wondering what weight he should be, i couldnt find anything on the web myself so i was hoping one of you smart people might know?

I dont know anything about should. I have a 1 year old right now that is 126 grams. Post a pic of it so we can see it.

I'm not sure about should, having raised one, but here is how mine has grown:

Looks great also. They are all so different in rate of growth. I have a 3 year old who just broke 1000 grams. But then I also have two full size laying females at 1600 and 1900 grams. Great shell though on that one.

thanks for the replys guys at the minute he is 6.7cm and weighs 65 grams and he was born september 2014. i got him beside the mouse to give an idea of size :) i also had the vet clip his nails yesterday, these photos were taken in the vets as the vet wanted to show my tort off on facebook :)12248222_869950403114196_4106613952905378144_o.jpg

Interesting about the nails. I seem to trim mine twice as often as other species. Digging species, I guess.

my vet said they were long i just guessed she knew about these things :) she tried to tell me he should be 110grams as a spurthigh and my tort are similiar, and a spurthigh at my torts dimensions should be around 110 grams, however she measured his domed length and width and apparently the calculation she is using,( i did my own research) should be the straight carapace length and when i did the calculation he should be 65 grams so hes bang on the money.
the calculation was length by width by heigth in centimetres multiplied by 0.57.
