Tortoises and wood

So I was contacting someone today and they told me that oil in pine and cheap woods are bad for tortoises and other reptiles. Is this true? And if so, what kind of wood should be used to built a tortoise table?

I think the problem with aromatic oils is when you use chips or substrate. The wood you use for building pens and houses is kiln dried, and the oils have been heated out of it. I use pine for all my tortoise fences and sheds.

Agree with what Yvonne said. You want to stay away from pine mulch or cedar substrate, but building with pine is fine. Even the NEW pressure treated woods are fine too. As is PVC!
