Let me rephrase that. Only tropical tortoises like the redfoot and yellowfoot can eat fruits

Something has gone wrong. This could be tortoise hereditory issues or care. Please share pics of the enclosure, heat temp and settings, light, diet do you add calcium? The claws are very long. Does the tortoise have exercise? How big is the enclosure? Do you soak the tortoise?
The damage is done but there may be improvements that can help going forward.

People do feed it sparingly to tortoises that shouldn't have it. But they shouldn't. Each time they give it, it's messing with the tortoises gut.
Would you want to eat something that gave you a stomach ache? Diarrhea? Or just plain messed with the good things in your gut that helps process food properly?
I have given water melon once or twice a summer when it's really hot, to help keep them hydrated. I stopped when I thought of it the way I just wrote it.
